Join us in the fantastic opportunity to tour Qualcomm! This event will include a graduate student panel, a tour of their public showcase room, and a tour of their lab.  At the end, we will enjoy lunch in their cafeteria. (Not paid for.)

We got a lot of wood stocked up in HKN room and what better way to use it than on a bonfire! Mingle with your fellow members (past and new) after induction at a fun day at the beach!  Hot dogs and smores for everybody!

All initiates MUST attend the induction ceremony in order to be inducted into HKN. All HKN members, alumni, and mentors are welcome! 

Please treat this as a FORMAL, serious event.  Attire is business formal. 

Dinner will be served afterward. 

Come out to HKN's Coffee Hour and meet and talk with professors from various departments (ECE, CSE, MAE, and NANO). This is a great event to network with your favorite professors! At the same time, enjoy coffee and a quick snack.

Join Team HKN for the annual Triton Junkyard Derby! See below for a brief description.

Inspired the popular TV show on The Learning Channel, "Junkyard Wars," UC San Diego's engineering community started the Junkyard Derby in 2004. For three weeks prior to the event, Engineering students scour the local community for "junk," acting as La Jolla's personal clean-up crew. The Junk Collection culminates in a Kick-Off Celebration where teams rush into a makeshift junkyard and attempt to grab the best junk with which to engineer their speed machines. After two nights and a day of building, the teams race down Peterson Hill in the middle of UC San Diego's campus with crowds of onlookers cheering them on and the hopes that their car will carry them to victory.

HKN Circuit Workshop is back again! 

This time:

1. Build a USB charger (works for most usb devices including iPods/iPhones/cell phones/etc)
2. Learn how the usb charger works!
3. And as usual, keep the parts! (breadboard not included, but may be purchased)

It is highly recommended that you stay for the full time and bring your own breadboard if you can. We only have so many to lend out.

Other than breadboards, we only have enough circuit parts for 20 people. If you RSVP you will get priority, but that will be nullified if you are more than 10 minutes late.

Welcome to our second GBM of the quarter.  As always, come hear about our upcoming workshops and opportunities for points for initiates!  Snacks will be provided. 

Come on out to learn how to use vim super efficiently! We'll cover tab to autocomplete, creating block comments, autoformatting your code, and way more.

Bowling for 2 hours, and each individual only needs to pay $5! We'll pay for the rest. 

Rides will be provided from school. SPACES LIMITED (15), so RSVP quick!!!

HKN is in need of tutors!

Tutoring is a great way to earn points/hours towards induction as well as give back to the community. You can earn up to 5 points/hours, which is half of the total needed towards induction through participating in our tutoring program. The only skills necessary for a tutor are patience, friendliness, and a drive to helping others.

If you are interested in joining our tutoring team, please contact r9huang[@]ucsd.edu There is always a need for more tutors and tutoring is a rewarding experience in itself.

The ECE department is looking for some volunteers to help out during Triton Day. This is a great opportunity to build personal relations with the department while also publicizing yourself and your experience so far at UCSD.
